David after Dentist. The first time I just felt bad for him, but each time it gets funnier. Poor kid.

In the Good Ol' Summertime
A dandelion!
Hey that's mine!
Can I eat the camera instead?
Outside is great!
So what's next?

Story of a Car
On Sunday our car stopped running.
I bought it a few months before we got married (without My Babe’s consent. We weren’t that serious yet).
I know it’s kinda ugly, but I really liked it.
A few days after I brought it home, the radiator blew while we were traveling through the Middle-of-Nowhere, Utah. And we were stranded (incidentally Mike was with me). A few months later, something similar happened and we had to replace the engine too.
Well anyway, My Babe and I got married and my car became our car. It actually ran well for awhile, minus the fact that the engine would freeze over in the negative-degree Rexburg winters.
But the last little while, it’s had issues again (if I knew more about cars I might try to explain). Let’s just say we’re becoming pretty good friends with our mechanic.
He towed the car out to his place on Monday morning and we were left carless for the week. Trying to be optimistic, we biked to school and work the next couple of days. It’s been good for us.
And then the bike tire blew. (To steal a line from the Little Rascals: “And the heavens opened up and God said, ‘I hate you, [Jacksons].’” Admittedly, I may have actually quoted this when I found out.)
But I know He doesn’t hate us.
Just as I was preparing to walk home from campus (and My Babe was trying to find me a ride), the mechanic dropped the car off. It’s just a temporary fix until a part comes in, but at least we’re mobile.
It’s funny to me because I really felt guided when I bought this car. And yet, it’s caused so many problems. But looking back, My Babe and I have learned a lot from it. In fact when that radiator blew while we were dating, I was so impressed with how Mike handled it. It was a small part of what made me love him.
I still think this car was inspiration.
But even if it wasn’t, we get a lot of good stories from it.

Vacation 101
Our recent family trip went something like this:
- Bought plane tickets.
- Ensured that we could actually miss several days of school.
- Arrived at airport early.
- Discovered our flight had been cancelled due to lightning or bird strike (rumors of both). Either way it was an “act of God” so they offered no hotel or food vouchers.
- Waited in long line with other upset customers while harried airline workers attempted to transfer everyone to other flights which, in turn, were cancelled.
- Eventually decided we could handle arriving at our destination at 2am.
- Discovered that they now charge $15-$25 per checked bag.
- Utterly relieved to discover our child is a pretty good flyer.
- Reminded that I’m not such a good flyer (turbulence stinks).
----- Enjoyed a lovely four days with wonderful people. Showed off the Kiddo a lot. Loved the fact that others love him. Loved the nephews. Loved the family. Loved just taking it all in. -----
- Became (slightly) ill and went to a doctor’s office first thing in the morning. Discovered they didn’t take my insurance. Dealt with it. Hurried back in time to feed and dress the Kiddo for pictures. Was relieved that he was willing to smile.
- Got three hours of sleep the last night there, made our 6:30am flight. Threw up just before boarding the plane (that’s what I get for taking medicine on an empty stomach).
- Concerned when the Kiddo’s car seat didn’t show up at the baggage claim. Asked a worker who found it in two pieces (fixable pieces, but pieces just the same).
- Drove home. Slept on the side of the road when the exhaustion set in and driving became dangerous.
Loved the vacation! It was all the good stuff in the middle.

Ring Update
The ring had a hammer taken to it. Intentionally. :)
The good news is that the store is going to replace it, free of charge. It’s on order at the moment (it’s always risky sending a ringless hubby onto BYU-Idaho campus, so we got on that quick).
The sales guy at the store said that tungsten rings have a weak spot so that they can be removed in an emergency. But you have to hit it just right.
I guess My Babe hit it just right.
