A Little Obsessive

Two days ago marked the end of my re-reading Harry Potter marathon. And now I miss it.

I miss diving into the fun and danger and getting caught in the mystery of friend or foe. And of course the excitment of spells and brooms and mystical creatures.

Now I'm back in reality and coming to the realization that my house is a mess, the laundry needs to be done and I still have 7 pounds of baby weight to lose.

I sure wish I had a wand . . .

and I think I may be a nerd.

My Craving

This weekend was Stake Conference and it was just. so. good. I left feeling full and yet wanting more: satisfied, but wishing it could go longer. The talks were wonderful. The music was amazing (“If the Savior Stood Beside Me” has been a long time favorite). It was just what I needed: to stop, refocus and really see where I am now and see where I need to improve. Exactly what I craved . . . and still crave. I’m so glad there’s a Sunday every week. And I’m so glad for celestial patterns that make the days in between easier.

Out and About

Due to our recent family addition, and the large belly bump that preceeded it, we have had little opportunity for enjoying this extra snowy winter. Snowmounds keep tauntingly re-forming on our porch as though to say, "If you can't come to us, we'll come to you." (Seriously, our metal roof allows for periodic avalanches directly onto the front steps. A bit hazardous, but I've only hit em' hard once so far... )

Anyway, we decided that a little snow play would be most welcome now and braved the cold a few nights ago to bring you this:

Our attempt at a Calvin and Hobbes creation.

It was a lot of fun for us and, at least for the moment, kept the prolonged-winter-blues away. The next day he dropped his head. But his shapely physique remains solidly intact. Yay for snowmen!

Daven has also dared the cold with me a few times now (we both go stir-crazy otherwise) and he loves it!

Which is good 'cause his stroller wasn't cheap! :)

From Michael

It's just nice to be reminded sometimes. :) Thanks Babe!

Also, if you've got a minute here's some interesting listening about the emotional development of infants. http://www.byub.org/familyexpo/?selectedYear=2003
Click on James Harper's talk (it's about 40 minutes long). I loved it!

Little This; Little That

. . . was blessed on the first of the month. We had momentary insanity as our little house was swarmed with people for a day (All of whom are delightful and I love). I have to thank everyone who planned meals (Mom), made meals, did dishes, put up with our broken toilet, ran the camera (Demas), and basically just joined in the chaos. It was a swell day.

That little guy also got his shots yesterday which resulted in a little fever, a lotta crying and a LOTTA stress for his mom (me). It was hard to know he was feeling so uncomfortable and feel like there was so little I could do for him. I guess I'm gonna have to toughen up a little if he intends to follow the typical male pursuits . . .
Luckily he seems to be feeling a little more like himself today.

It's the LITTLE things. :)

P.S. I'd also like to publically thank Andrew and Nicole Burger for using their mad skills to remove my car from the snow-covered hole I discovered last week. They're amazing. 'Nough said.
